  • FOCUS, since 1975,helps to mold the creative individual seeking a career in photography into an insightful professional in the business of self-expression and problem-solving using light, camera, film, paper and digital resources. The Professional Photography Program is an intensive 6 months course of practical education in the commercial, technical and artistic aspects of photography, with an emphasis placed on professionalism.

 

  • Photographic practice today demands multiple skills, flexibility, and the ability to solve complex problems with imaginative solutions. The Professional Photography curriculum provides a strong foundation in photographic techniques, digital technologies, photochemistry, and fine art printing. In order to fully utilize the foundations, the school places an emphasis on the comprehensive understanding of the visual, creative and technical aspects of photography. The student is also exposed to various experimental processes, such as solarization, dye transfers, cross processing, tricolor pointillism, digital technologies and is encouraged, throughout the practical education, to explore the full range of photographic tools.

 

  • As the student progresses, they choose an area of concentration (Major) to further their studies. Working closely with the FOCUS faculty, the student acquires the advanced skills necessary to master any of the diverse areas of chosen specialization. With the experience of the School's practicing professionals for guidance, the student will then develop a portfolio, which is showed through out the FOCUS Web, and a clear understanding of current business potentials and practices.

 

  • FOCUS graduates are some of the new pioneers in photography all over in Latin America. We are proud to claim that they are among those maintaining their independence as freelance commercial and glamour photographers, photojournalists, fine arts, digital technologies and exhibiting their work in galleries and museums.
